The Temple of the Skull is one of the most famous buildings in the Palenque Archaeological Zone, located in Mexico's North American region. The temple gets its name from the skull-shaped carvings found on its facade.
The Palenque Archaeological Zone is open every day from 8am to 4:30pm, and the entrance fee is approximately $5 USD. The official website for the zone is www.inah.gob.mx/en/palenque.
In addition to the Temple of the Skull, visitors can also see other impressive structures such as the Temple of the Inscriptions, the Palace, and the Temple of the Cross. The museum within the zone is also worth a visit, showcasing artifacts and information about the Mayan civilization.
Nearby attractions include the Agua Azul Waterfalls and the Misol-Ha Waterfall, both of which are located within a 2-hour drive from Palenque. The waterfalls are open from 8am to 5pm and have an entrance fee of approximately $3 USD.
